HOPE FOR NEW YORK
Citymeals-on-Wheels
The East Side · Midtown

Mission: Citymeals-on-Wheels provides a continuous lifeline of nutritious food and human company to homebound elderly New Yorkers in need, helping them to live with dignity in their own familiar homes and communities.

OUR PARTNERSHIP
Our volunteers make a big impact by delivering meals on weekends, holidays and during emergencies in order to provide food for elderly neighbors in need of a warm, nutritious meal.
Did you know that 34% of the elderly in Manhattan live below the poverty line? Citymeals helps to find these older adults and connect them to meals and companionship!
Citymeals volunteers come at every age! Families serving together get to know their Upper West Side neighbors building inter-generational community in their neighborhood.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Emergency & Weekend Meal Delivery

  • Volunteers (in groups of 2-3) deliver on foot anywhere from 10-20 meals on Saturdays in the UES to elderly who can no longer buy groceries or cook for themselves.

Program policies:

*This program is reserved for volunteers who attend one of HFNY's partner churches.

*Citymeals-on-Wheels does not accept court mandated community service, and volunteers with criminal charges pending or convictions are not eligible to volunteer for the opportunities listed on HFNY's website.
