Lead a Rooftop Garden Project with Young Adults Aged Out of Foster Care

Saturday 10:30 AM - 2:30 PM

Calling all green thumbs!

Use your knack for recreational gardening to serve residents of Louis Nine House! The house is a residential home in South Bronx for young adults who are homeless or aging out of the foster care system.

Volunteers work alongside the staff and residents to plant and maintain the rooftop garden, planting flowers as well as vegetables and fruit for the tenants to eat in order to provide them with fresh, healthy, and seasonal foods.

A team leader will lead volunteers in planting and growing plants. No professional experience needed, but general understanding of and passion for growing plants and/or vegetables preferred.

The team leader will need to visit the garden at least twice per month, along with a team of volunteers, to lead residents and staff in tending the garden. Date and time are flexible based on your availability. Request Information here, and Hope for New York will be in touch with you to discuss logistics.

*Must be 18+ years old
