Client Testimony- Midtown Pregnancy Support Center
My name is Rosie,* I am 25 years old and MPSC changed my life. I came to the center scared, nervous and unsure I was pregnant. When I visited and found out I was pregnant, I was speechless. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to keep a child since I was Muslim and unmarried. Plus, it seemed like my only option was to abort because my boyfriend didn’t want a child yet. I didn’t know where to turn because nobody wanted to talk about this situation. I didn’t know what to do or where to start.
At MPSC I met Euree, my peer counselor. I will never forget her dedication and support. If I had never met Euree, I don’t know where I would be today. Euree suggested I wait before I decided to abort until it was determined that the pregnancy was okay. After 2 1/2 months, I decided to carry. My decision was based on what was in my heart and the support that MPSC had shown me--that I had options and that I was not alone. I’m beyond grateful because in my heart I wanted to keep the baby, but it seemed like no one was going to be there for me. It was a huge decision to make on my own, but I knew that I had to do what was best for me.
MPSC helped me find reliable insurance, provided clothes and other little essentials for us. If they did not have what I was looking for at the center, Euree would go out of her way to find it and have it ready for me at the next meeting. One of the things that stuck with me about my counselor was that she would be available at all hours to talk if I needed. She gave me hope that everything would work out for the best, which helped a lot to motivate me, especially when I felt that I was alone.
It is the most wonderful thing being a mother and I would not trade it for anything in the world. I am very happy about the decision that I made and I will never regret it. It is hard at times, but it is a true blessing to have someone who you can love unconditionally, even if you just met them.
