Hope for New York

For over 20 years, Graffiti has been ministering to the community in Alphabet City on the Lower East Side of Manhattan.  HFNY volunteers help Graffiti lead youth on Wednesday evenings, attend monthly youth outings around New York City, tutor children and youth and celebrate Christianity through the Arts and the Apologetics Cafe.

Committed Volunteer Opportunities:
Youth Outings-
Connect with youth from the LES through once a month activities and outings with Graffiti and build relationships. Events include a trips around New York City.  Trips are scheduled from 12-4PM on the the last Sunday of the month.  Commitment is once a month for 6 months.  Contact Chris at to learn more about becoming part of this community.

Youth Program, Connections-
Lead a class or activity during extended Wednesday evening program for youth from 7PM-8PM and join for dinner and fellowship from 6PM-7PM if your schedule allows.  Committed groups needed to lead once a month for the 2011-2012 school year.  Contact Chris at to learn more about becoming part of this community.

Flexible Volunteer Opportunities:
Apologetics Cafe-
Volunteers needed every Friday night from 7PM-10PM to bake, set-up, break-down, help serve and greet.  To learn more and volunteer email Courtney:  .

Children's Tutor/Youth Mentor-  Care for children and teach them basic skills.  Dates/Times: Flexible.  Monday through Thursday, 2:30-5:00pm.  For more information, contact

Food Server-  Serve food to the program participants.
Dates/Times: Wednesday, 5:30pm-7pm; Saturday, 12pm-1:30pm (except the 1st Saturday of the month).  For more information, contact

Cook-  Prepare or assist food preparation for the food ministry.  No experience necessary.
