Here's Life Inner City

Here's Life Inner City partners with churches and faith-based organizations to serve the poor by providing a multitude of resources, including food and clothing, which are packed for distribution at their large warehouse in Long Island City, Queens. They also provide job readiness programs and youth programs that are located throughout the city.

Flexible Volunteer Opportunities:
Freelance Writer - A writer is needed to help tell the story of the great work at Here’s Life and the ministries it partners with. The writer will develop content for the website and monthly newsletter by attending various events at Here’s Life to report on them and by interviewing volunteers regarding their experiences. The writer also will occasionally visit ministries that Here’s Life supports in order to learn and write about their work. The time commitment involves writing approximately one page (3-4 paragraphs) of content per month. Visits to ministries can be done based on the writer’s schedule and the writer will be accompanied by a Here’s Life staff member. For more information or to volunteer, contact Elizabeth at .
Events Coordinator - An experienced coordinator is needed to assist Here’s Life with various events. The coordinator will work with staff to facilitate events; liaise with ministries that Here’s Life partners with to organize their participation; assist with outreach to supporters and potential supporters; and, assist with communicating event information internally and externally. The time commitment is flexible and only involves occasional attendance of meetings, as well as the actual events. For more information contact Elizabeth at .
Volunteer Groups - Participate in large-scale "packing parties" such as Easter Bags, Homeless Care Kits and Boxes of Love. Times and dates vary throughout the year.
Youth Workers - At each of the HLIC Say Yes! Centers located throughout the city, volunteers can lead devotionals, tutor, and mentor students. Kid's ages range from 15 to 18 years. Programs held Monday through Friday, After-school hours (3-6pm); Saturday - Flexible hours, 9:30am-2:00pm. For more information contact Elizabeth at .
