We are channeling people and resources into three different categories: Hope for New York Affiliates, Citywide Relief Efforts, and NYC Faith-based Efforts. Below, we've included resources for finding up-to-date needs and opportunities with these partners.

SANDY STORIES

Since Hurricane Sandy, nearly 500 Hope for New York volunteers have mobilized to assist in recovery efforts around the city and in nearby areas devastated by Sandy.

Our volunteers have...

Cleared out flooded buildings with Here's Life Inner City, Graffiti, and World Vision.
Donated food and emergency items and served displaced populations with The Bowery Mission, All Angels' Church, and New York City Relief.
Distributed food in Lower Manhattan with The Father's Heart Ministries
Advocated for those in shelters with Brooklyn Jubilee
Traveled to Coney Island, Staten Island, the Rockaways, Long Island to offer relief supplies and clear out demolished homes and churches with organizations like the Salvation Army, Operation Blessing, and Samaritan's Purse.

Graffiti Church on the Lower East Side was completely flooded during Hurricane Sandy. HFNY volunteers mobilized to help Graffiti clean out debris and start recovery efforts.

"Ever since Hurricane Sandy hit, HFNY has been there. From helping us recover from the flooding in our basement, to helping us plan our long-term response for our neighbors, HFNY staff and volunteers have been there."

HFNY volunteers partnered with Samaritan's Purse and Center Point Church to clean-out flooded and destroyed homes on Long Island.

"The homeowners were completely overwhelmed by our presence and were extremely grateful for the team to help them. They lost most of their possessions and were waiting for their insurance agents, Fema, etc. to orchestrate the next steps. The homeowners were so humbled by the storm and felt extremely loved by our team."
