Our mission at Open Hands Legal Services is to uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed in New York City. We bring free legal services directly to community members at host non-profit organizations throughout the city.

Volunteer attorneys, law students, paralegals, translators and non-attorneys are needed to staff and assist at our Legal Aid Desks with client intake, note taking and research, client support, clerical, and translation.

Currently, Legal Aid Desks are held on two Saturdays each month. We anticipate adding more Legal Aid Desks back soon.

All volunteers must attend a New Volunteer Training.
