To run with HFNY, you must sign up in two different places:
1) Register for the NYCRUNS 5K or 10K HERE.
HFNY Runners can choose to run either the 5K distance or the 10K distance. All runners must register via NYCRUNS in order to run. Register before Jan. 18 for the best rate. Spots arelimited!
2) Create your fundraising page through Classy HERE.
Everyone running with HFNY must create a fundraising page. If you don’t create a fundraising page through Classy, we will have no record of your sign-up and we will not be able to send you invitations to team events, training runs, etc. Let us know if you need help customizing your fundraising page. E-mail email@example.com.
On March 17, HFNY Runners will participate in the NYCRUNS Spring Fling 5K & 10K and work to raise $50,000 for our neighbors in need.
Saturday, March 17, 2018
Start time: 5K: 8:30AM | 10K: 9:30AM
Firefighters Field, Roosevelt Island at 425 Main St.
Volunteer-led team training runs are available through February and March, and you can choose either the 5K or the 10K route on race day.
Our team fundraising goal is $50,000, and runners are strongly encouraged to raise at least $250 for our neighbors in need. Any individual runner who raises $500 or more, or any team or family that raises $1,000 or more, will receive a special HFNY performance tee.
HFNY Runners Receive
What are the distances of the run? You can choose between a 5K route and a 10K route. The course map is here.
Do I have to sign up with both HFNY and NYCRUNS? Yes... this is very important! You need to register separately with NYCRUNS to run, and then with Hope for New York to fundraise and join our team. The NYCRUNS entry fee is currently $30, but that price increases after Jan. 18, so register today!
So Hope for New York isn’t organizing the actual run? That’s correct. The NYCRUNS Spring Fling 5K & 10K is managed and produced by NYCRUNS. Hope for New York runners will be participating in it, but Hope for New York does not manage and produce the actual race.
How much is the NYCRUNS registration fee? The registration schedule is as follows:
I have more questions about the NYCRUNS Spring Fling! Check out their website, or email them directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I can't run on March 17 but I still want to run to support HFNY. What can I do? You can still join HFNY Runners as a member and fundraise for HFNY, and run in another race at another time in the year. If you're looking to do that, e-mail Rebecca Hampe at email@example.com. We'd love to have you join.
Can I start a sub-team of friends? Sure thing! After you create your own fundraising page on Classy, you can start a sub-team directly from Classy.
Can I run with my family? Yes! While strollers are not allowed on the course, we encourages runners of all ages to sign up. NYCRUNS will award prizes to the top three in each age category, including a 9 and under group.
What is the fundraising goal? Our team fundraising goal is $50,000 for our neighbors in need.
How much am I supposed to raise? Any HFNY runner who raises $500 or more, or any family or team that raises $1,000 or more, receives a HFNY Running performance tee. Our top fundraiser will receive a gift certificate for custom running shoes! We recommend that all runners have a goal of at least $250 for our neighbors in need.
Where can I get fundraising tips? Once you register to create your fundraising page on Classy, you’ll receive an e-mail with a link to our fundraising guide, which gives you a step-by-step guide to fundraising for New Yorkers in need.
What’s the deadline to fundraise? We ask that all donations are received by April 1.
Can a corporate matching gift count toward my fundraising goal? Yes. Once we receive a matching gift notification from your donor, we’ll notify you of the amount so you can input that as your offline donation. Please encourage any donors to report their donations through their companies' matching gift programs.
How should checks be handled? Your donors can make checks payable to Hope For New York (with runner’s name in the memo section), and mail to HFNY Charity Run, 1166 Avenue of the Americas, Suite 1610, New York, NY 10036.
TEAM & COMMUNITY
How will I find out about team events? When you join the team and set up a Classy page, you’ll be added to our run Google group for team communication, training run info, etc. You’ll also be invited to join our running Facebook group for sharing photos and encouragement.
