Volunteer Orientation for Overnight Shelter Volunteers

About this Opportunity
MAPC/St. James Shelter, is an overnight homeless shelter for 12 men staffed entirely by volunteer hosts every night of the week. The shelter provides a safe and comfortable environment for the guests.

This is a ministry of hospitality acting on our Biblical call to offer a warm welcome to all of God's people, particularly strangers in need.

Those interested in volunteering with Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church – St. James' Shelter as overnight hosts must attend an orientation session. After you have completed an orientation session, you will be able to volunteer with an experienced volunteer host. After that, you will be free to host as often as it suits your schedule.

Overnight Hosts: Volunteers will serve starting at 8:30 p.m. and stay overnight at the shelter in a separate, private room. Volunteers supervise breakfast and departure in the morning by 7:00 AM. You can serve as an individual or with one other person.
