Mentor an Entrepreneur as a Business Coach (Spanish & English)

About this Opportunity

Restore NYC is a nonprofit organization making freedom real for survivors of trafficking in the United States.

Mentor an entrepreneur 1:1 over a 7 month period, with a coaching curriculum provided. *We are looking for both bilingual Spanish/English speakers and English speakers!*

Help survivors of human trafficking achieve economic freedom and empowerment through entrepreneurship and launching their own business. 

Duties and responsibilities

  • Help your entrepreneur prepare their business pitch deck for pitch night, where they can qualify for business funding. 
  • Meet with your entrepreneur bi-weekly to keep them tracking towards their business goals. 
  • Your role will be an accountability partner, sounding board, and supportive encourager to an entrepreneur, vs. needing to be a subject matter expert.

Training requirements

  • 1 hr general volunteer orientation & background check
  • 30 minute interview with the entrepreneurship manager to determine fit 
  • If accepted, you will have a 45 minute business coaching orientation/training

Skills and qualifications

  • Humility to learn and adapt 
  • Entrepreneurial experience preferred, but not required 
  • Supportive and encouraging, yet firm in expectations and clear in communication
  • Looking for both Spanish speaking and English speaking coaches

Time commitment required

  • Meet weekly (1 hr) for a month to prepare your entrepreneur for pitch night 
  • Meet bi-weekly (1 hr) for 6 months 
  • Monthly check in calls with entrepreneurship manager (45 mins)

  • Active communication with Restore staff for any needs, challenges, and concerns 
  • Trauma informed and sensitive to the unique challenges, barriers, and background that an survivor entrepreneur faces
  • Foster a safe and comfortable environment where entrepreneurs feel seen, heard, and cared for
