Why Living Waters Fellowship Loves His Toy Store

November 10, 2014

In December, we'll partner with several of our affiliates, including Living Waters Fellowship in Brooklyn, to host His Toy Stores for families in their communities. Families are invited to come to the store and shop for new toys at no cost, and also learn about the services and resources our affiliates offer.

Below, Pastor Anna Mandile from Living Waters tells us why His Toy Store is such a life-giving outreach for the families they serve.

What are some of the challenges that the families that you will invite are facing?

Pastor Anna: Many of the families have trouble paying their bills. They often are living with more than one family in an apartment to make ends meet, and they struggle to give us the $20 fee per week for our afterschool program.

Why is HTS a good thing for these families?

Pastor Anna: I think they see love without the "strings" attached. They know that they are loved and cared for. His Toy Store allows them to pick out toys for their own kids, and says that we are concerned for the needs of both their children and them as parents... [Many of these families] generally are not very open to speaking with strangers about their lives, but HTS gives us another aid to getting in their lives and helps open the door.

Help us stock our His Toy Stores with toys before Nov. 30! Click here to learn more and give.
