Help Hope for New York Launch New Volunteer Programs
Need: Volunteers from our three partner churches (Apostles, Redeemer, Trinity Baptist) to help us launch new volunteer programs.
- Preparing and serving meals at an UES (E70s) homeless shelter
- Leading recreational events at an UES (E80s) maternity residence for pregnant and parenting teens who are homeless, adjudicated or in foster care
- Serving as a life coach to formerly incarcerated men and women at a re-entry program in East Harlem (E120s)
- Volunteering as a one-on-one tutor to low-income students in grades 2-12 at an UWS (W80s) community center
- Leading social events or preparing meals at an UWS (W80s) residence for men and women with mental health issues

Assist Homeowners in Need with Minor Home Repair
Need: Help low-income homeowners with painting, landscaping, weather stripping, and minor home repairs.

Sort, Package, and Prepare Donated Items for Distribution
Need: Help at World Vision Storehouse to organize donated items (building materials, clothing, school supplies, and personal care items) to send to local partners and nonprofit organizations in the New York area.

Teach Art Class to Teen Moms (or Provide Childcare for Class)

Mentor Women in Career Skills and Job Search
Need: Christian women volunteers to assist women in residential recovery program in developing career skills and searching for jobs. Volunteer orientations on March 1 and March 15 from 6:30PM-8:30PM. Specific needs include:
- Thursday evening mentors (6-7:15PM or 7:15-8:30PM; up to 5 needed)
- Assistant to career center teacher in computer center (W,Th, or Fri afternoons 1:15PM-4:15; 1+ needed every other week)
- Mentors for:
- Basic computer skills, including online job searching (flexible schedule; 1-2 needed)
- English as a Second Language (flexible schedule; 1 needed)
- Job search skills (flexible schedule; 1-2 needed)
- Job search skills with an emphasis on basic marketing for entreprenuers (flexible schedule; 1 needed)
- Job search skills with an emphasis on using social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc.) in job search. Expertise not required, just working knowledge of social media applications. (flexible schedule, 1-2 needed)

Teach Basic Computer Skills to People Re-entering Workforce
Need: Coach 1-2 participants in basic computer skills (e-mail, word processing, Internet navigation). Part of Fresh Start Cleaning, a cleaning company that employs, trains & equips graduates of the Bowery Misison’s residential programs as they re-enter the workforce.

Serve at Community Café for Vulnerable Men and Women
Need: Serve food, greet guests, and participate in recovery groups at “Our Place Café,” a community café for people experiencing homelessness, addiction, and mental health challenges.

Distribute Clothes to Community
Need: 2 to 3 volunteers to help distribute clothes. Male volunteers preferred, although female volunteers may participate if there are at least two working together.
