Project FIND Hamilton // Build Relationships over Board Games with UWS Seniors 10 volunteers can join the fun of Scrabble, Jenga and Trouble during Game Night for Hamilton Senior Center residents and the local community on Wednesday nights from 5PM - 6PM. St. Paul's House // Serve Breakfast to Midtown West Community in Need On Friday mornings, help serve breakfast and build relationships with guests who are homeless or marginally housed and attending the daily gospel service & breakfast. 7AM - 9AM. Great for early risers! RSVP for 8/1
All Angels' // Sunday Evening Meal Service Six volunteers are needed to set up tables/chairs, serve a meal to guests both homeless and homed, and clean up afterward. Great for groups! Sunday, August 3rd from 5 to 7:30PM. RSVP HERE.
Bowery Mission // Serve Dinner to the Homeless Prepare and serve dinner on Wednesday, August 6 from 5:30 to 7:30PM. Once known as a soup kitchen, The Bowery Mission is often referred to as the busiest "restaurant" in NYC, serving more than 900 meals a day to homeless or low-income men, women and children. Salvation Army // Serve Lunch to the Community near Union Square on Wednesday, August 6 or August 20 from 11:30AM to 1:30PM or in East Harlem on Sunday August 3 from 11:00AM to 2:00PM. Click the dates to learn more and RSVP.
NYC Relief // Provide Relief to those on the Streets Join the NYC Relief Bus to connect the homeless and people in need with food and resources. Volunteers will serve soup and drinks, pray for homeless guests, and help distribute resources on Saturdays: S. Bronx on August 2 or East Harlem on August 9 from 10AM to 2PM; near Port Authority on August 16 from 8 to 10PM. Click on the date to RSVP.
Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter // Serve High Tea to UES Residents 4 volunteers will have the opportunity to build relationships with residents who are formerly or chronically homeless by playing bingo games together and preparing/serving lunch, high tea and desserts. Saturday, August 9 from 12PM to 2PM. RSVP HERE.
Living Waters // Serve the Bushwick Community Serve a delicious pancake breakfast in Bushwick, Brooklyn with Living Waters Fellowship. Guests include low income families, the elderly, and homeless. Saturday, August 9 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. We're also looking for volunteers to play games and sports with elementary school kids from 10AM to 12PM, and lead crafts from 12 to 2PM. Great for groups! Avail NYC (formerly Midtown Pregnancy Support Center) // Serve Clients at Front Desk Two volunteers will serve at the front desk on Monday and/or Wednesday nights from 5:30 to 8PM starting August 11. The volunteer position will include answering phones, scheduling appointments and checking-in clients. Email to learn more and sign up.
Bowery Mission Women's Center // Cook Dinner for Women in Recovery 6-8 female volunteers will cook and serve a delicious dinner at their UES residence for women seeking recovery and new life beginnings. Supplies will be provided. Excellent opportunity for a weekend girls' night out with a social justice twist. Gifted Hands // Join Arts Outreach to Teen Moms 8-10 Female volunteers are needed to lead art and craft classes for pregnant or parenting teens living at Covenant House, a residence for homeless youth. Wednesday, August 13 from 6:30 to 8:30PM. Contact HFNY Team Leader at to serve.
Defy Ventures // Refine Resumes for Formerly Incarcerated Volunteers with executive/entrepreneur/investor experience will receive up to 5 resumes and leadership statements electronically to edit and refine for the Team 4 Entrepreneurs-in-Training, a carefully selected group of men and women with past criminal histories. Defy Ventures // Hone Business Plans for Formerly Incarcerated Volunteers with executive/entrepreneur/investor experience will meet and coach Defy's Team 4 Entrepreneurs-in-Training at their Executive Evening event on Wednesday, August 20 from 6:30 to 9:30PM. For more info and to RSVP, click HERE.
All Angels // Special Evening Meal Service 20 Volunteers are needed to set up tables, serve a meal and clean up afterward at this special Sunday evening meal service which will combine both morning and evening congregations, homeless guests and homed, to celebrate their Community Minister Iana Ryan. They are expecting a large crowd and need many helping hands - especially strong men and women who are willing to move tables and chairs. Great opportunity to serve with your community group! HFNY Mentoring Info Session // Interested in mentoring & making a big impact in the life of NYC students this fall? Then mentoring is for you! HFNY has various mentor programs that will start in September and the best way to learn how to get involved is by attending our Mentor Info Session on August 25. Brooklyn Teen Challenge // Career Building for Night Students 1 to 2 volunteers will lead workshops designed to help students prepare for their transition into the working world by honing resumes and interviewing skills. The Bridge // Lead Community Building Events for Adults with Mental Disabilities Prepare meals, lead events, and build relationships with a group of fun-loving and joyful adults who are living with mental disabilities.
