Bilingual Spanish Volunteering
Did you know? One in four New Yorkers speaks Spanish at home. We need bilingual Spanish speakers to serve these communities in specialized roles.
If you speak fluent Spanish and have a heart for helping immigrant neighbors feel welcome in our city, consider partnering with one of our affiliates below.
Plus: We have a Resource Card with both English and Spanish to connect unhoused and hungry neighbors to the resources they need.
Avail
Avail NYC provides free, confidential care and resources for men and women making a decision about an unexpected pregnancy or seeking support after an abortion experience. Use your professional translation skills to translate client-facing documents and resources into Spanish.
- Serve as a virtual translator (asynchronous opportunity)
City Relief
City Relief is a mobile outreach in New York and New Jersey that connects homeless men and women to resources that lead to life transformation. City Relief needs volunteers to converse with hungry New Yorkers at two outreaches in Harlem and the Bronx.
Do For One
Do For One helps New Yorkers become “advocates” who engage in freely given, 1-on-1, enduring friendships with adults who have been marginalized due to having a disability. Recently, there’s been an increased need for advocates who speak Spanish.
El Barrio Angels
El Barrio Angels provides free pro-se legal aid, specializing in asylum and immigration assistance. They also offer English language classes and social services case management.
Graffiti 2
Graffiti 2 Community Ministries serves children, teens, adults and families in the Mott Haven neighborhood. Through after school, summer, workforce development and community programs, Graffiti 2 meets the holistic needs of its neighbors. Virtual or in-person Spanish-speaking volunteers are needed to help individuals in the Get2Work program build a resume, create a cover letter, and apply for job.
St. Paul's House
St. Paul's House is an independent mission house serving hungry New Yorkers and satisfying souls since 1945. St. Paul's House needs volunteers to translate and converse with hungry neighbors in Midtown.
Safe Families for Children
Safe Families for Children hosts vulnerable children and creates extended family–like supports for desperate families through a community of devoted volunteers. Safe Families for Children wants to add to their support network to keep families together. Being able to come alongside Spanish-speaking families in their heart language is critical, and your help is a gift!
The Open Door
The Open Door empowers immigrants to successfully integrate, participate, and contribute to the well-being of our society. The Open Door provides ESL, GED, and other courses for Spanish-speaking neighbors.
