Professionals In Action

What is PIA? PIA home

Professionals In Action (PIA) mobilizes volunteer teams with professional skills to complete short term pro-bono projects for organizations serving the poor and marginalized. It is a movement that maximizes the lasting impact volunteers can bring to these organizations by utilizing their specialized skill sets, and a chance for them to meet other professionals in the industry.

How it works:

Volunteers can sign up for projects that range from 1 to 3 months for 2 to 3 hours per week.  While most tasks can be worked on independently, each team member will check in with one another about once a week, and arrange a meeting with the non-profit organization once a month.

Each team will have an assigned Project Manager to facilitate the communication between the organization and the team of volunteers, and also coordinate the tasks among the volunteers to ensure the project is on track.  HFNY staff will check-in regularly with the Project Manager and the organization to provide any necessary support, and to ensure mutual satisfaction.
