HOPE FOR NEW YORK

The Open Door

Co-teach TASC (formerly GED) Math to Adults from Immigrant Community

Thursday 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

The Open Door empowers immigrants to reach their full God-given potential to successfully integrate, participate and contribute to the well being of our society. Its vision is a new community of diverse individuals heading homes participating and thriving in the English-speaking economic mainstream as a model of community development.

Volunteers co-teach classes for adult students working in Manhattan, who are learning English as a second language.

TASC - The TASC certification (formerly GED) is required for entrance to college. Spanish proficiency required for this opportunity, as classes will be taught in Spanish. Curriculum and materials provided.

Classes are every Thursday from 7-8:30PM, starting on September 14. Volunteers are asked to commit to teaching once a week for the 12 week semester.

The Open Door is a faith-based organization, and seeks Christian volunteers for all teaching roles. Volunteers must be 18+ years old to serve.

Request information below to learn more. An application, references, and training are required to serve.
