CEO Letter: Remembering Tim Keller
On the morning of Friday, May 19, Rev. Tim Keller returned home to Jesus. We grieve and remember a humble man who founded Hope for New York.
Dear Friends,
Our hearts are heavy today as we mourn the loss of our founder, Tim Keller, a man who dedicated his life to sharing the power of Christ’s love with others, and who challenged all of us to love our neighbors and to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
Hope for New York was founded over 30 years ago because of Tim Keller’s teachings about caring for the least of us, the everyday neighbors in need we encounter on the streets and in our communities. Speaking about the reason for Hope for New York, Tim Keller shared, “In Jesus Christ, God literally identified with the poor. His name, his heart. But, frankly, in Jesus Christ he put his body on the line. He took a body and he became poor with us.”
We will miss his humble leadership, friendship, and heart for mercy and justice.
We ask that you pray for the Keller family as we grieve with them.
In His Mercy,
Elise Chong
