Our Partnership

Mobilizing Volunteers
Our volunteers provide mentoring for weekly small group activities, one-on-one college prep help, and encourage students to set long-term career goals.
Making Grants To Fund Programs
Our funding helps to provide for program costs related to the mentoring program and college prep program, curriculum, and local college visits/trips.
Why We Love This Affiliate
Through creative staff and effective use of volunteers, Shiloh is incredibly nimble and able to respond to the changing needs of New York City youth.

My hope for our teens is that they will experience God’s unconditional love through our mentors. As a recent immigrant from Mexico to the South Bronx, Rosa felt totally out of place in school and had a difficult time making friends. But when she joined our afterschool program two years ago, Rosa found a haven in a chaotic city where she was free to be herself. Because her mentors recognize and value her personality and skills, Rosa has opened up to those around her. She told me recently that the love she's received from our program have caused her to view God as one who cares about her.

Grantmaking is one of the four cornerstones of our model (which also includes volunteer mobilization, capacity building, and collaborative networks). Every June, we give Direct grants to many of our affiliates so they can plan their programs for the coming year.
When Tommy Pan came to New York City three years ago, he started mentoring at Shiloh NYC, one of our affiliates. We asked him to share why he’s been so committed as a mentor there—what makes it worthwhile to him and what he’s learned. Here's what he told us.
