About this Opportunity
Mont Lawn City Camp (MLCC) is a faith-based mentoring and enrichment program for children in the South Bronx. City Camp, a program of The Bowery Mission, helps children build resilience and thrive, equipping them to grow into adults who are spiritually grounded, economically self-sufficient, have healthy relationships and positively contribute to their communities.
Apply to become a mentor for 1-2 students for one year. This is part of our leadership development for students.
- Volunteers meet with the same 1 or 2 assigned students twice a month on Saturdays (dates are scheduled for the entire program year September-May) to build friendships, engage in various enrichment-based activities, help with problem-solving, develop leadership and faith, and participate in group activities that provide new experiences.
Commitment:
- Must meet with mentees two Saturdays each month which are pre-scheduled and in-person (in the South Bronx).
- There will be pre-assigned activities and field trips.
- Commitment of one academic year (Now - May 31), two years preferred.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must be a follower of Christ and adhere to The Bowery Mission's statement of faith
- Must go through a background check
- Must not have a criminal record
- Must sign a media release waiver
