About this Opportunity

Mission: Graffiti 2 Community Ministries seeks to revitalize, revive, and revolutionize the Mott Haven neighborhood of the South Bronx and beyond by enabling individuals to develop physically, mentally (revitalization), emotionally, socially, and spiritually (revival) so that they may become servant-leaders within their families, community, and beyond (revolution).

Board Member Role Description

  1. Dedication to the mission and participation in the community-work of Graffiti 2 Community Ministries.
  2. Willingness to bring commitment and sense of humor to your work on the board.
  3. Dedication to children and young people.
  4. Attend at least one meeting of the board in person annually (preferably the annual meeting in September) and be present for all other regular meetings of the board (in person or via teleconference); board meetings are approximately two hours in duration and occur at least four times per year.
  5. In between board meetings be accessible for personal contact; willingness to contribute expertise, skills, resources, and personal effort on projects of the organization.
  6. Provide leadership to board committees when convened.
  7. Utilize your network to promote the work and find new partners for the organization.
  8. Commit time to developing financial resources for Graffiti 2 Community Ministries. This may include making a personal contribution or supporting other fund development activities of the organization in a manner appropriate for board members.
  9. Responsibly review and act upon recommendations brought to the board for action.
  10. Prepare in advance for decision-making and policy formation at board meetings and take responsibility for self-education on the major issues before the board.
  11. In general, utilize personal and professional skills, relationships and knowledge for the advancement of Graffiti 2 Community Ministries, Inc.
  12. Persons elected to the Board must agree to respect the Graffiti 2 Community Ministry Statement of Faith.
