Mission: New Beginnings Center of Hope's mission is to save life both inside and outside of the womb by equipping women experiencing unplanned pregnancy to make informed pregnancy decisions that lead to life affirming choices for themselves and their pre-born children.

Board of Directors Qualifications, Responsibilities, and Commitments

  • Serving on the Board of Directors of New Beginnings Centers of Hope (“NBCOH”) is both a privilege and a commitment.
  • Individuals who are chosen to serve should possess certain qualifications and be willing to utilize their time. talent, influence, and treasure to build a strong, focused and dynamic organization that facilitates God’s positive life transformation of women, men and preborn children.
  • Board members are required to work as a team in conjunction with the organizations Chief Executive Officer as unto the Lord utilizing their combined professional skills, spiritual gifts, personal wealth, and networks to implement an effective strategic plan in accordance with God’s ordained mission vision and values for New Beginnings Center of Hope.

Qualifications

Directors must personally affirm NBCOH’s statement of purpose and statement faith, must abide in all respects with the corporate policies set forth in the Bylaws, and must characterize personal commitment to the values of NBCOH.

Effectiveness as a director requires the following additional attributes:

  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Acceptance and participation in NBCOH’s “Give Get “policy which is reviewed and revised annually taking in consideration each board member’s financial ability and increasing development as an ambassador and advocate for NBCOH.
  • Wisdom, servant attitudes, and team commitment.
  • Unique experience or expertise lacking on current NBCOH board (i.e.: legal, medical, generosity development/fundraising.

Responsibilities

Each director’s role includes the responsibilities to working with CEO to:

  • Implementation NBCOH mission, purpose, organizational goals, and basic values of NBCOH
  • Review and Revise organizations strategic plan as needed.
  • Establish standing policies to guide the directors and staff.
  • Select and evaluate the NBCOH Chief Executive Officer on their ability to implement NBCOH vision, mission, purpose, organizational goals and policies.
  • Commitment to the Evangelical Councial for Financial Accountability (ECFA) Seven Standards of Responsible Stewardship to establish, ensure and maintain NBCOH financial stability and integrity.
  • Require periodic independent audits of NBCOH, including program, structure, legal, and financial matters.
  • Review and approve NBCOH ‘s annual 990.
  • Attend Board Meetings and accompany CEO to prospective donor meetings as requested.

Additionally, each director has the responsibility to help raise funds for NBCOH in several ways, including, but not limited to:

  • Prioritize NBCOH as one of that director’s top three recipients of that director’s charitable giving, other than that director’s local church as evidenced by making generous personal donations each year according to each director’s own means.
  • Actively engaging in NBCOH friend raising and fundraising activities each year.
  • Identifying and cultivating relationships with existing and potential major donors to NBCOH on a continuing basis; and

Commitments

Each director, to the best of his or her ability and circumstances, commits to the following:

  • Maintain ability to efficiently verbalize NBCOH’s mission, vision and strategic objectives in ways that attract and engage potential and current donors to partner in deeper more meaningful ways.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the NBCOH bylaws, policies, and programs, and an ability to communicate with others about them.
  • Prepares in advance of Board and committee meetings, including having read the agenda and all background materials, and to be ready to discuss the issues and business at hand.
  • Participates in board discussions and conflict resolution efforts in ways that move the organization forward in mission, vision, and goal attainment.
  • Actively participates on one or more committees of the Board.
  • Actively support NBCOH programs and to serve as a goodwill ambassador for NBCOH whenever possible.
  • Prays faithfully for the growth and positive life transformation for NBCOH and its staff, volunteers, ministry, program, and the men, women, and children it serves.
