Due to the nature of this position, Board Members need to have their own personal Christian faith 

Number of Meetings Per Year: 8

Give/Get Policy? Yes, $10,000

Commitment: The time commitment is 2 hrs a month

Board Roles & Descriptions

Prayer & Care Coordinator

Maintaining a culture of prayer throughout the area

  • Collect prayer requests from staff and leaders
  • Ensure every staff, leader, donor, kid, and area strategy/activity is being prayed for by an adult Create a consistent "time of prayer" for Local Board & broader faith community Execute annual prayer event
  • Develop and distribute prayer email
  • Ensure leaders are being personally cared for and invested in (create a team if
  • necessary)

Ministry Strategy Coordinator

Serve as a sounding board for staff to develop an effective area strategy to reach as many kids as effectively possible

  • Assist staff in deciding when to launch a new ministry or change ministry direction.
  • Assist staff in developing and implementing: annual ministry calendar, year-long camping plan, discipleship plan & contact work strategy.
  • Assist staff in how to build healthy teams.
  • Ensure staff is building and developing a healthy relationship with community leaders.

Events Coordinator

Connect Adults and the community to the work of Young Life.

  • Assist in determining what "type" of the event is most effective for the area (example: wine & cheese YL exposure event, fundraising events, etc.)
  • Execute all area events (outside of direct ministry activity)
  • Assist with the creation of an event team when necessary
  • Manage event contact lists, invites, and book locations
  • Manage all event follow-ups
  • Create a system to duplicate successful events
  • Utilize YL platforms to produce registration page and payment links (see staff for details)

Marketing & Comms Coordinator

Help the area tell the story while ensuring people can "come and see" the work for themselves

  • Assist with the management of all social media platforms
  • Manage an area contact list
  • Create an annual communication calendar
  • Produce standard area communication material & assist with determining distribution frequency
  • Assist staff in communicating with parents, community leaders, or school personnel

Church & Community Partnership Coordinator

Connect YL to the local church and the neighborhood

  • Build and manage relationships with community orgs & churches
  • Maintain database of churches and community orgs within the area
  • Assist in the recruiting of potential leaders
  • Seek to sit on the local Community District Board or at least develop a relationship Manage Adult Guest program

Finance & Budget Coordinator

The gospel is free, but we must have the budget to deliver it

  • Assist staff in creating and communicating the annual ministry budget & Financial Masterplan
  • Monitor and distribute YL Connect financial reports
  • Assist in monitoring all YL financial platforms
  • Ensure all financial policies are being followed and understood (example: service charge) Monitor all requests for Regional Subsidy
  • Work closely with major & monthly gifts coordinator

Donor Communications Coordinator

Taking care of the people who support us

  • Learn and assist with the management of YL Connect
  • monitor things such as birthdays, major life events, etc.
  • Develop a system that tracks the number of "touchpoints" with all donors
  • Assist staff with the execution of the P.E.O. Strategy
  • Familiarize yourself with National and Regional donor communication
  • Work closely with Major and Monthly gifts coordinator

Major Gifts Coordinator

Maintain a healthy relationship with $5K+ financial champions

  • Learn and assist with the management of YL Connect
  • Assist the Region with the building and management of relationships with financial champions ($5K+)
  • Assist in the preparation of material for financial champions
  • Assist staff with face to face (zoom) meetings with $5K+ financial champions
  • Be connected to the NYC YL Development Team
  • Access personal and professional network to invite $5K+ financial champions to give
  • Assist in the implementation of P.E.O. Strategy

Monthly Gifts Coordinator

Maintain a healthy relationship with monthly financial champions

  • Learn and assist with the management of YL Connect
  • Assist in determining the frequency of communication
  • Maintain database of churches and community orgs within an area
  • Assist in the recruiting of potential leaders
  • Seek to sit on the local Community District Board or at least develop a relationship
  • Assist in the implementation of P.E.O. Strategy

Camp Scholarship Coordinator

Ensure the max amount of kids can experience camp at least once

  • Develop an understanding of YL Connect
  • Develop an annual plan to raise camp scholarships
  • Assist staff in identifying annual camp scholarship needs
  • Ensure kids follow through with Area commitments with financial champions Maintain database of students who receive scholarships
  • Assist with Adult Guest Program
  • Assist staff with Work Crew process as needed
