We seek to be a people who serve our poor and marginalized neighbors in both word and deed. We put feet to our faith as we tangibly serve our neighbors, and we also go to the Father on their behalf, presenting their needs to Him in prayer. In the spirit of giving thanks and taking time out to remember all the wonderful gifts we have been given, here are 10 things that we at Hope for New York are especially grateful for this season.

Seanette has shopped at His Toy Store for the kids in her house ever since it first came to the South Bronx in partnership with A House on Beekman. She works at AHOB’s After-School Program, so also volunteers at His Toy Store each year. Her favorite part? The togetherness.

Strings of twinkling white lights and gold garland. Tricycles and Ninja Turtles and Barbie dolls. Sparkling cider and warm coffee. Smiling faces and Santa hats. This is just some of what our neighbors experience when they visit His Toy Store, Hope for New York's annual Christmas outreach for families in need.

This year, Hope for New York turns 25. And to think it all started with a group of young people who, despite their lack of experience or training, responded to the call with a simple, "Let's do it."
