With 9 million people living in this city, we can think of 9 million reasons to give back. In addition to food pantry, 9 Million reasons brings resources to the Long Island City community through compassionate service.

Located in the heart of Long Island City and in proximity to the largest New York City Housing Authority complex in NYC (Queensbridge), 9 Million Reasons has utilized volunteers to serve over 1800 meals a day. In addition to hot meals, 9 Million Reasons provides food pantry items and a clothing closet.

Help us serve neighbors through a variety of roles!

Volunteers will:

• Pack dry goods
• Pack bags that will later be distributed during an outreach to unhoused neighbors
• Sort clothes in the clothing room
• Work the front door where families arrive for food distribution
• Distribute pantry items (potatoes, produce, juice)
• Greet families, take names, give out food
• Help run food from the back to the front where it will be given out

Details

• Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Due to the warehouse environment, volunteers should wear closed-toe shoes.
• Please come in with an ideal position in mind, as 9MR will delegate your assignment based on your preferences during our kick-off before the event.
• To show appreciation to volunteers, we serve a homemade meal every day at 12:30pm. Volunteers can also have breakfast before beginning in the morning.
