Safe Families for Children

Lead a Craft, Skill or Informative Workshop

About this Opportunity

Parenting is hard work. It’s even more difficult when you feel alone, encounter obstacles, and lack a stable support system.

As part of the Safe Families for Children program in New York City, volunteers are invited to be part of Mighty Village.

  • Mighty Village provides a system of support through a community of parents who are going through similar circumstances.
  • This community helps parents feel a sense of belonging, enabling them to provide for themselves and their children with a stable community of friends by their side.

Based on the model of the Five Protective Factors, Mighty Village helps add stability, resilience, and health to parents’ lives through activities and events, including Parent Cafes, ongoing peer-to-peer support groups, job skills and training opportunities, practical support for day-to-day challenges and needs, and more!

We are looking for several volunteers who would be comfortable leading an in-person or remote (zoom) workshop on a topic of their own choosing. Topics could include skills or crafts like:

  • Resume-building
  • Mental Health/Wellness
  • Yoga
  • Self Defense
  • Financial literacy
  • Knitting
  • Photography and more!

If you have a passion or an expertise that you would enjoy sharing with parents who might not otherwise be able to afford the opportunity, please let us know.
